This course is conducted in the style of a writer's workshop. Students will have the chance to write a portfolio of essays, and to receive essential feedback on how to improve their writing. Students will write a lot in English, and speak a lot in English, each week.  We will also have weekly short readings as homework, followed by in-class quizzes and conversation based on the topical reading. Class activites such as idioms and others are designed to help students improve fluency in speaking, reading, and writing. 

Students in this workshop will become proficient in writing in English in a variety of styles, moving from the personal narrative to analytical writing. Each semester writing topics vary, but in the past students have written restaurant reviews, as well as engaging narratives about family life and traveling abroad. Students learn guidelines for essay writing, which meet standards for publishing as outlined by the Modern Language Association. Students will also learn how to talk about writing, as they analyze and discuss the writing of others in the class. 

Weighted Criteria: Attendance/ Participation: 40%
Writing Prompts/ Reading Quizzes/Essays: 60%

This class meets online every week. Please attend class with a positive attitude, an engaged sense of humor, and a willingness to help others in the writing process. This class is not about academic research writing, This class is limited to level B students.
