The main aim of this course is to improve students’ writing abilities in English. Students will expand their vocabulary, increase their ability to organize and develop their ideas, and improve their writing skills. The course includes paragraph and essay structure practice as well as grammar review for written communication. Students will do a lot of writing, both informal and formal, in this course because the best way to improve your writing skills is through practice.


Students will

1.     improve their critical thinking skills,

2.     develop their writing ability, specifically in terms of organizing and developing their ideas,

3.     improve their academic vocabulary, especially in a writing context, and

4.     improve their revising and editing skills.

Class Wrap-up and Reflection


This class will be conducted only in English and students are expected to use English during class. Practicing our English is the only way we can improve our language proficiency. Students are also expected to actively participate during class, especially during group and pair work.

Note: Missing any of the three required essays will result in a failing grade. Also, more than three unexcused absences will result in a failing grade.
