In this class we will use freely available podcasts to practice listening to native speakers talking at natural speed. We will also learn new vocabulary and discuss the podcasts’ content as a class. There will be several presentations throughout the semester to give you a chance to practice using the vocabulary and expressions we learn from the podcasts. Therefore, you will do quite a lot of speaking, in addition to listening, in this class.

  • Improve ability to understand native English spoken in a range of dialects
  • Build confidence in ability to catch complex information/ideas when listening
  • Develop critical/analytical abilities by discussing the stories being told

Participation: 30%
