This course helps students build confidence in presenting opinions by integrating listening and discussion practices. It is best suited for students who (a) have TOEFL scores between 425 and 479; (b) who are reasonably comfortable taking instruction and participating in class in English, and (c) who have not previously taken a course in argument or debate.


Course Objectives:

  1. Building basic skills for forming, supporting, and presenting opinions.
  2. Thinking critically to refute arguments.
  3. Demonstrate active listening skills in groups and individually.

Each session involves practices and activities in either small or large group. If you prefer to work individually, this class is not suitable for you.
