Delivery: On Campus 

This class is designed to help students enhance English and communication skills by discussing various topics and engaging in informal debates with group members.  We will start out with fun topics to overcome shyness and fear of using the language, then move on to more challenging and controversial topics to develop critical thinking and problem solving skills. 

Students will be evaluated on their attendance, participation, and assignments.

There will also be a makeup class on October 17th, and two makeup assignments.


  1. Enhancing communication skills by working with the class members
  2. Gaining confidence expressing opinions and ideas in English
  3. Developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills by taking part in discussions and debates


Attendance and Participation: 50%
Assignment (on Moodle): 30%
Midterm and Final group work: 20%

October 2nd:

Introduction to class and classroom rules. ( On Campus)

Getting to know your members.

October 9th:

Going over basic non-verbal cues/ Learning BOOST

October 16th:

Discussion: Learning to express your ideas logically and concisely.

October 23rd:

Discussion: Learning to agree and disagree with your members by giving good examples

October 30th:

Discussion: Listening and asking the right questions. Learning to deal with tough questions.

November 6th

Midterm group presentation.

Novemebr 13th

Introduction to debates: Learning basic methods of debates.

Novemebr 20th: Debating: Affirmative and negative terms.

November 27th

Debating: Organizing the group's ideas and supporting members.

Dec 4th

Debating: Summarizing your group's ideas, and preparing for rebuttals.
